Thanksgiving Weekend

Gobble gobble, it is turkey time! We hit Mountain Jack’s on Thursday and met up with the French/Lawson crew for chow. I had the traditional macaroni and cheese, just like the Pilgrims made, but the other kids ran anywhere from chicken fingers to hamburgers. Who knows what the adults ate, but they seemed to have a lot of vegetables on their plate! After lunch, we went back to Gigi and Poppa’s house to enjoy some play time with our cousins and to work up an appetite for round 2 of giving thanks.

Over the river and through the woods and down 450 to Mema and Pepa’s house next, where we met up with TC, Renee, and Baby Mitchell too. There were turkeys and hams, and we had some of that to eat, too! We also watched the traditional Christmas Vacation movie and my favorite part is when the dad drives his car under the big semi truck (note: Daddy has never done that, but would love to give it a try). Then, Momma got some sort of wild hair to go out on Thursday night to nab some holiday deals. We stayed in the nice, warm house with Pepa and made sure he got tucked in to bed OK while those nutjobs went out shopping in the crowds! We didn’t get completely out of it, though, because Mommy and Daddy took us out on Friday to experience the halls of the Tippecanoe Mall being decked with silver bells and gold cards.

Next on the agenda was some quality time with Gigi and Poppa, including a special showing of Happy Feet 2. I have two happy feet, but I can’t dance like that! We ate at Fox’s Pizza Den, which is Uncle Manata’s new favorite haunt and we approved with a belly full of dough, sauce, and cheese. Our big trip was to help Gigi and Poppa pick out their special Christmas tree that Poppa had to cut down with a big ol’ saw.

When Mommy and Daddy came to get us, we were on a whole other quest for a tree. After about 3 or 4 stores worth of looking, we chopped one down with a credit card and hauled home in a box. We spent the rest of the evening decorating trees while Daddy strung lights outside, all to the tune of Christmas favorites from Pandora.

Wow, what a weekend!

November 13th, 2011 @ 8:35 pm

This weekend was quite action-packed. It started on Saturday with a trip to the Urgent Care so Momma could get checked out. Since her accident, she has been pretty sore and wanted to make sure everything was cool with her guts and stuff. So, they did and X-ray and now she glows in the dark. Wait, I made that last part up. But, she did get an X-ray and everything looks a-OK, which is good.

After the checkup, we snagged McDonalds on the fly towards our next phase. The highlight of lunch was Morgan’s new found love of cheeseburgers. Apparently, accordingly to Momma and Daddy, every kid loves McDonalds cheeseburgers. They were mostly right…all kids but me. Morgan fell for their malarkey, but I’m sticking with nuggets.

Anywho…let me sum up the next 6 hours of our day: waiting in a dealership. First one, then another, then another. Car shopping is stupid, especially when we end up in Anderson, In! But, all ended well because Momma has a car coming to her driveway and we got to go to a movie! Puss In Boots in 3D was at our theater, and Mommy and Daddy said we earned a treat because we were so good waiting and waiting and waiting. I laughed out loud a few times and loved the part with the baby kitty.

Sunday started out like normal, but after some showers, we suited up for the big game! Uniforms of blue and white, including face tattoos, for the Colts vs. Jaguars at Lucas Oil Stadium! We were way up in the Terrace, but could see everything and I asked Daddy about 4500 questions about who was running which direction and which guys kicked it and why people where cheering (or booing, which they seemed to do a lot of). We even had snacks and souvenirs, though Daddy had to sneak those past the Momma when she wasn’t around…hehe. The Colts didn’t win, but that’s OK because Morgan and I had our first official NFL experience, and it was awesome!
