This week, besides Morgan getting her braces on, we’ve gotten to spend some time with Baby Mitchell! One Monday we just pretty much hung out around his house and played with his stuff, but on Wednesday we hit the town. After a morning nap and some lunch, we headed to Best Buy, Barnes and Noble to play with the trains, picked up Mema and rounded out our adventures at Walmart, Frozen Custard, and Menards! Whew! Mitchell was so wiped out that he took another nap at Mema’s house while Morgan and I hit the very warm pool! Thanks for a super fun time, Mitchell!
After our big day at the Snack Shack, we decided to take a little more relaxed approach to Sunday. That translates to…swimming at Mema’s pool! Morgan, Momma, and I packed up and headed that direction while Daddy headed to dip more ice cream. We were joined by Riley and Taylor, too, who also sent their Daddy up to Delphi. Swimming at Mema’s is a marathon, not a sprint, and we held out for several hours before we packed it in for Phase 2.
We got ourselves organized back over at Aunt Carrie and Uncle Manata’s house, then the Daddies took all of the kiddos to get fireworks while the Mommies hunted down Moe’s for dinner. We all met back up at the house in perfect Swatch Watch synchronization and chowed down while we waited for it to get a little darker. As soon as the sun started to set, we brought all of our explosives outside and put Uncle Manata to work. He put on a great show of fountains, frogs, and parachuting fireballs. So great, in fact, that the industrial-strength earmuffs I borrowed from Pepa didn’t quite cover it and I had to watch from inside while the other crazies braved the gunpowder and mosquitoes. We partied until way past our bedtime and left the Lafayette Lawsons with plans to see them the next day.
Today, I planned to be on the Guardian Angel float in the world famous Lebanon 4th of July Parade. We didn’t plan on Morgan walking, too, but once she saw the super-cool float she changed her mind and handed out books with the other Guardian Alumni. We didn’t travel too far along the parade route before I saw all of my adoring fans waving and cheering along the road at the park. Thanks to everyone for coming down, checking out the parade, having lunch, and celebrating the 4th with us!
