Since Daddy’s away at a party tonight, Mommy’s flyin’ solo tonight. We thought it might be a good time to give you a brief update on the walking I’ve been doing. So here goes…NONE! I’m nowhere near walking solo, and I hate walking with help from Mommy and Daddy. I wish they’d just give it a rest ’cause it’s not going to happen…at least not on their watch! However, I eat more in one meal than my bib sis does in three!

We started the day by driving Mommy nuts during breakfast at Flap Jack’s, which is always a funny treat. Then, we headed back home and the girls got all fancy-dancy for Renee’s bridal shower and Daddy went out to mow while I took a nap. When I got up, it was boy time! Daddy and I drank beer, ate cold pizza, and farted on the couch while we watched football. Really. We did.
Ok, so you weren’t falling for that. We did do boy-type things, though. We ate lunch and made a huge mess, which is a boy thing. Then we went to Wal-Mart to get some hose connectors, lawn fertilizer, and grass seed. When we got back, it was play time for a little bit, then another nap. Wake up, play, eat, play, etc. Its good to be a boy!

Age: 1 year
Height: 30 inches
Weight: 21 pounds 7 oz
Nicknames: Parker-Parks, Little Man, Fat Head
Likes: Watching videos in the car, playtime upstairs after school, swimming in Mema’s pool (as long as I don’t have to be in a vest), animals (like the ones at the fair…and kitty!), putting things in and out of containers, sleeping, laughing, eating everything in sight and nonstop including Nutrigrain bars.
Dislikes: Not having more food, getting instructions or hearing “No!”, real veggies, books or reading.
Notes: No more bottle…it’s all sippy cup for me. I still only have two teeth, but that doesn’t stop me from eating like a horse. I’ve had some recurring ear infections, but my tummy is better and I don’t throw up anymore. I wear 12 to 18 month clothes and 3 shoe. Crawling is still my favorite mode of transportation, but I’m getting braver when letting go of things I’ve pulled up on. I know where my head is and like to put random objects atop it. I can clap, wave, high-five, sometimes sign for “more”. I can click my tongue and make sounds for a bear (grrrrr) and kitty (mmmmaaaaaa), and can say Uh Oh (ut ut), but my favorite is to chant “duck-a-duck-a-duck-a”.

With much doubt and concern from the get go, you went against all the odds and made it to your very first birthday! I mean it…it was iffy there for the first few months…I mean really touch and go for awhile. BUT, no need to dwell on the past. The last eight months have truly flown by. Daddy and I are still looking at each other not believing that you are one today. Although you look very much the same as the day you arrived (minus all the purple bruising on your face) you have changed so much. Your smile is Muppet-like and captivating, your laugh is infectious and always leaves us wanting more, your determination to try new things is inspiring, and your snuggles are the best. When things couldn’t seem to get any better, the icing on the cake is the way my heart smiles to see you and Morgan Lee play, laugh, giggle, happy-scream, tease, and love each other. Happy First Birthday, Little Man!
Love, Momma and Daddy
